STILL UNEVEN:
HOPE RISES WITH THE TELLING

This year, CCA commemorates the 30th Anniversary of the USCCB’s pastoral letter, Economic Justice for All,” and celebrates what would have been just over 50 years of the Commission on Religion in Appalachia (CORA), from which CCA sprung as the Catholic caucus.

downloadDuring our weekend together, we will explore with our speakers the historical trends and current state of Appalachia’s economic disparity, and look to the stories and wisdom from the People’s Pastoral for answers to a future filled with promise for our region.

Uneven Ground: Appalachia since 1945, by Dr. Ron Eller, examines the impact of government programs and economic development on Appalachia since World War II and forms the background for our Keynote Conversation.

OPENING REMARKS:

Bishop John Stowe – Bishop of Diocese of Lexington, KY

KEYNOTE CONVERSATION:
A perspective on what shaped the current state of economic affairs in Appalachia, history of the Church’s involvement, & thoughts on the future
Moderated by: Sr. Kathy Wright

REGISTRATION DEADLINE
Due to the logistics of Aldersgate’s sleeping quarters and meal arrangements, we need to set a deadline for registration. If you haven’t already done so, please register AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, but NO LATER than Monday, August 29. Honestly, room assignments cannot be made until we know the number attending, and we would like to strive to give people what they would be most comfortable with. We have also contracted to provide a final one-week notice to Aldersgate’s cafeteria.
