Company/Ministry: Church of the Incarnation
I work as the Coordinator of Justice & Charity at our parish–a job that encompasses a number of justice, charity, and formation/education ministries/programs ranging from immigration reform, direct outreach, and environmental justice to Habitat for Humanity, consistent pro-life efforts, and interfaith community organizing. It’s a varied role but one that tries to encompass as much of the church’s social mission and the life and message of Jesus as possible and to convey this to our parish community.
Being from Louisville, KY, I learned a bit about Appalachia from a young age. With our parish, my family visited Prestonsburg, KY, at least once a year and worked with the Piarist Fathers there. Over the years, I’ve developed a great interest in eastern KY and the Appalachian region–a place with splendid beauty yet crushing poverty and environmental degradation. I would love to spend an extended period of time working in this region in the future.
I’m also involved with Social Action Summer Institute, CCUSA Parish Social Ministry, Haiti twinning, a number of local groups and organizations
